Blocktopia is a stacking toy that empowers children to effortlessly create unique settings for their figurines. Each Blocktopia piece features a distinctive themed composition of graphics that seamlessly blends interior and exterior spaces.

The pieces are available in arrays of 1×1, 2×2, and 4×4 to facilitate easy stacking and organization. Using a peg and socket system, Blocktopia pieces can be stacked on top of each other and organized in various ways. Additionally, a Blocktopia set includes multiple figurines designed to seamlessly integrate into any Blocktopia setting.

Process

Our goal for this project was to design a product that could nest or stack. The studies and proposals were to centered around one of the following design areas: office, toys, or housewares.

With my interest in toy design, I decided I wanted to design a toy that followed these conditions. After some ideating, I decided on a stacking toy that a child could use to create new unique environments depending on the side and arrangement of each module.

Prototyping

For prototyping, I wanted to focus on making sure that the product could not only stack easily but also remain accessible for young children. With this in mind, I created modules that had clear indicators on where each piece can go, and decorated them with colorful and vibrant graphics.
